The land that became Alapocas Run State Park was donated to the city of Wilmington in the early 1900s by local industrialist William Bancroft. Residents enjoy a leisure bike ride from the Blue Ball Barn in Alapocas Run State Park to Bellevue State Park using the Northern Delaware Greenway Trail in late May.
